Activating communities group award
The Activating Communities – Group Award is presented to a sport or exercise group that go the extra mile within their community by supporting others to participate in physical activity and providing innovative opportunities that make a difference.
The winner is a community focused charity organisation, focused on improving physical and mental wellbeing through dance in a safe environment where they may not previously had access. The foundation started as an idea to help raise funds for NHS staff during COVID to thank them for their incredible service, the events were a huge success raising over £26,000!
It became very clear that the journey for their team couldn’t stop with Strictly NHS, and they have now made it their mission to continue to give back to the community via their Lets Dance sessions which have been a huge hit with people across the borough. They continue to work with thousands of people each year and are highly passionate and driven to continue doing so in the future.
