Application to Register - Self-Build and Custom Build home

Instructions

The Government wants to enable more people to build their own home and local planning authorities in England and Wales are required under the Self-build and Custom House Building Act 2015 (c.17) to keep a register of individuals and associations of individuals seeking to acquire land to build a home.

The council maintains a register of people who might be interested in self-build and/or custom build housing. If you would like to be added to the register please complete this form.

In keeping this register, Wyre Council makes no commitment to find or provide registered individuals with self-build or custom build plots. The register will not be a public document and will be treated as confidential. However, the council will publish headline data (i.e. location, type and/or demand) from the register in the Authority Monitoring Report.

Under the regulations, to be added to the register, all individuals (including each member of the association) will need to fulfil all the eligibility requirements:

  • Be aged 18 or over
  • Be a British citizen, a national of an EEA State or Switzerland
  • Be seeking (either alone or with others) to acquire a serviced plot of land in Wyre to build a house to occupy as a sole or main residence.

Wyre Council will need to see documentary evidence to confirm your eligibility (date of birth and nationality) for example, passport, birth certificate or driving licence. The document will  need to be certified as a true copy of the original. Information about who can certify a document is available here. Please do not send original documents. Copies will be disposed of in a confidential manner once the eligibility is confirmed.

The Council aims to determine an application within 28 days of the date that the application, and supporting documents is received. The council will contact you to notify the outcome of your application.
