Notice of election for the Lancaster and Wyre constituency

Parliamentary Election for the Lancaster and Wyre Consituency

  1. An election is to be held for a Member of Parliament for Lancaster and Wyre.
  2. Nomination papers can be obtained from the office of the (Acting) Returning Officer, Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ on Monday to Friday during normal office hours (excluding bank holidays).
  3. Nomination papers must be delivered to the (Acting) Returning Officer at the Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ on any day after the date of this notice, on Monday to Friday 10.00am to 4.00pm (excluding bank holidays) but no later than 4.00PM ON FRIDAY 7 JUNE 2024.
  4. The £500 deposit can be paid by legal tender or by means of a banker’s draft from a drawer which carries on business as a banker in the United Kingdom.
  5. If the election is contested the poll will take place on THURSDAY 4 JULY 2024.
  6. Applications to register to vote must reach the Electoral Registration Officer by 12 MIDNIGHT ON TUESDAY 18 JUNE 2024. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/register-to-vote
  7. New applications to vote by post, and amendments or cancellations of existing postal vote or proxy vote arrangements must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ by 5.00PM ON WEDNESDAY 19 JUNE 2024. Applications to vote by post can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-postal-vote
  8. Applications to vote by proxy at this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ by 5.00PM ON WEDNESDAY 26 JUNE 2024. Applications can be made online in certain circumstances: https://www.gov.uk/apply-proxy-vote
  9. Applications for a Voter Authority Certificate or an Anonymous Elector’s Document valid for this election must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ by 5.00 p.m. on Wednesday 26 June 2024. Applications can be made online: https://www.gov.uk/apply-for-photo-id-voter-authority-certificate
  10. Applications to vote by emergency proxy at this election on the grounds of physical incapacity or for work/service reasons must reach the Electoral Registration Officer at the Town Hall, Lancaster, LA1 1PJ by 5.00PM ON THURSDAY 4 JULY 2024. The physical incapacity must have occurred after 5.00PM ON WEDNESDAY 26 JUNE 2024. To apply on the grounds of work/service, the person must have become aware after 5.00PM ON WEDNESDAY 26 JUNE 2024 that they cannot go to the polling station in person.
