Fees
New applications attract a fee that is set by Parliament and is determined by the rateable value of the premises.
Premises licences are usually subject to an annual fee when they are issued. This is payable each year by the anniversary of the grant of the licence.
Failure to pay the annual fee will result in suspension of the licence. Offering licensable activities while the licence is suspended, is an offence under section 136 of the Licensing Act 2003, which carries a maximum sentence of an unlimited fine and/or up to six months imprisonment.
