Right to data portability
You have the right to receive your personal data, which you have provided to us. You also have the right to transmit the data to another controller on request. In the main, the data portability rights allows individuals to obtain and reuse their personal data for their own purposes across different services or different organisations.
The right to data portability only applies:
- to personal data an individual has provided to a controller
- where the processing is based on the individuals consent or for the performance of a contract, and
- when processing is carried out by automated means
We will endeavour to provide the information in a structured, commonly used, machine readable format.
The information will be provided free of charge.
Whilst the council will endeavour to action your request for data portability to other organisations, we are not required to adopt or maintain processing systems that are technically compatible with other organisations.
Where we do not action your request, the council will write to inform you of our decision, our reasons for doing so and to explain your rights to complain to the Information Commissioner
Make a request for data portability
We will respond to your request within one month. We can extend the time limit for a further two months if the request is complex or there is more than one request for portability. If this is the case, we will write to you to tell you why the extension is necessary.
