Join us on Saturday 23 November to celebrate the launch of our new Climate Change Strategy and the beginning of National Tree Week!

As part of the launch, we would like to offer residents to come and collect a FREE native tree from Wyre Estuary Country Park from 10am until 1pm. This is an outdoor event so wrap up warm, Wyreside Cafe will also be open serving refreshments throughout the day.

To find us search for Wyre Estuary Country Park car park (FY5 5LR) or use What 3 words address: 'curly.speeded.slanting'.

Come and find out about our Climate Change Strategy and the amazing work Wyre Rivers Trust, Cosy Homes in Lancashire (CHiL) and our Coast and Countryside team do. Interested in volunteering? Have a chat with us on the day to find out how you can get involved in tree planting, gardening, leading walks, conservation days and so much more!

We also want to celebrate the positive climate action you are taking. To claim your free tree, please simply share your eco-friendly actions with us in the form below. This collective action will help us towards our goal to reduce polluting emissions across the borough and make Wyre a cleaner, greener and more sustainable place.

The trees we will be handing out are currently saplings, which will vary in size between 40-60cm. They will need nurturing to be able to reach their full potential and play a crucial role in climate action, flood protection and biodiversity enhancement. The tree species available include:

  • Goat Willow (Salix caprea),
  • Crab Apple (Malus sylvestris)
  • Wild Cherry (Prunus avium)
  • Hazel (Corylus avellana)

Depending on availability, you will be able to choose which species you would like on the day. Use the links above to help decide the right tree for you.

Please note that they will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis. Be mindful that this may be a popular event, so your preferred tree may not be available.
