As the days are getting brighter, February half term is the perfect time to get outside and explore Wyre’s great outdoors.
Why not take a look and see what’s on in Wyre for you to enjoy.
On Friday 21 February at Wyre Estuary Country Park there’s a bird watching for kids event. Join the rangers from 10.30am to 12pm to see and hear what birds you can find around the park. It’s free and there’s no need to book.
Then on Sunday 23 January you can enjoy stargazing at Bleasdale Parish Hall with Robert Ince from Go Stargazing. Remember to wrap up warm and bring binoculars and a torch if you have them. Or why not explore the Wyre Estuary using the brand new Little Cucumber Fish of Wyre tale trail. The Lancashire Wildlife Trust has launched a brand new family story complete with walking map for the Wyre Estuary and surrounding coast. Working in partnership with Wyre Council and a company called Tale Trails, a fun colourful guide has been created that celebrates the natural beauty, precious habitats and wildlife of the Wyre Estuary. The guide follows the heart-warming story of Ayla the cucumber fish as she journeys through the habitats of the Wyre Estuary and out into Morcambe Bay, meeting lots of new friends along the way. Pick up a free copy of the guide at Wyre Estuary Country Park and Rossall Point Tower and follow Ayla’s story by visiting locations such as the Wyre Estuary Country Park and Fleetwood Coast.
Memorial Park in Fleetwood also has its very own app that you can download for free and use to enjoy interactive trails and quizzes next time you visit. From a fairy quiz, to a dinosaur safari, heritage trail and even a 1k running route, the app will keep the whole family entertained. Simply search ‘Love Exploring’ in your app store and download the family exploring app, then select Memorial Park.
