Wyre Council has confirmed that Rebecca Huddleston will become their new Chief Executive when current CEO Garry Payne retires in March next year.
At a meeting of full council on 1 December, members voted in favour of appointing Rebecca, with effect from 1 April 2023.
Rebecca has both private and public sector experience and is currently employed as Local Government Senior Consultant at KPMG UK, providing expert advice to clients on council transformation and the complex challenges faced by the sector. Her previous experience includes working as Assistant Director of Transformation and Reform at Rochdale Council, and 14 years at Chorley Council, most recently as Director of Policy and Governance.
Rebecca comments:
“I am absolutely delighted to be appointed as Wyre Council’s next Chief Executive.
“I’ve worked in local government throughout my career and I’m passionate about the vital role that district councils play in creating the conditions for communities, places and businesses to thrive.
“I’m really looking forward to getting started and to continue to deliver the very best services to Wyre’s residents and businesses, building on the great work that Garry Payne has led in his time in post.”
At the meeting, Councillor Michael Vincent was also voted in as the new Leader of Wyre Council. He comments:
“It’s an honour to have been appointed as Wyre’s new Leader and to be able to work with my fellow councillors to build on the success of the council and drive forward positive change.
“I look forward to welcoming Rebecca to the organisation and working together to deliver excellent public services. She brings a wealth of experience, skills and knowledge of local government and shares our vision to make a difference for the people of Wyre.”
