As part of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations Wyre Council is bringing free outdoor theatre performances of the much-loved Alice in Wonderland story to Wyre. You’d be a mad hatter to miss it!
Performed by Gambolling Arena Theatre Company, join Alice and her friends as they journey down the rabbit hole in search of the Queen of Heart’s missing cake stand! The silly old Dormouse has lost it and the Queen is threatening to “off with their heads!” Can Alice and the White Rabbit enlist help and save the day?
There’s no need to book, just come along. Performances take place at:
- The Mount, Fleetwood on Thursday 2 June at 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm
- Jean Stansfield Park, Poulton on Friday 3 June at 11 am and 12.30pm
- Cleveleys Plaza (at the top of Victoria Road) on Friday 3 June at 2.30pm
- Millennium Green, Garstang on Saturday 4 June at 11am, 1pm and 2.30pm
There are plenty more ways to celebrate the Jubilee in Wyre including beacon lightings on Thursday 2 June at the Mount in Fleetwood and at Cherestanc Square in Garstang at 9.45pm.
There’s also a Giant Jubilee Picnic taking place in the family area at Millennium Green in Garstang on Saturday 4 June from 11am to 3pm. Pack up a picnic and bring the whole family for a fun day out. Bring your chairs, rugs and tablecloths, sit back and enjoy the performances or have a go at some fun family games at Garstang’s biggest ever picnic.
Councillor Lynne Bowen, Leisure, Health and Community Engagement Portfolio Holder at Wyre Council, comments, “We are delighted to be hosting events like this across the borough so that as many people as possible can celebrate this momentous occasion. These performances will give families a free fun way to celebrate together in our beautiful parks and open spaces, come along and join us if you can.”
