The Government recently announced measures to help households with rising energy bills, including a £150 rebate for households in council tax bands A-D.
For those living in Wyre, the rebate to bills will be made directly by Wyre Council from April and will not need to be repaid.
In order for us to make the payments as quickly as possible, we are encouraging residents to sign up for Direct Debit Council Tax payments so that the rebate can be made automatically, directly into your bank account without you needing to make an application.
For those who do not pay their Council Tax by Direct Debit, it is likely there will be an application procedure, which may take longer to process.
On top of this discount, discretionary funding will also be provided to support vulnerable people and individuals on low incomes that do not pay Council Tax, or that pay Council Tax for properties in Bands E-H. We are awaiting further guidance on this and will share this information as soon as it becomes available.
If you do not currently pay by Direct Debit, it’s quick and easy to set this up online on our website at www.wyre.gov.uk/directdebit
You can also sign up for e-billing to receive your future Council Tax bills online by creating a myWyre account and linking it to your Council Tax. More information can be found at www.wyre.gov.uk/aboutmywyre
