About the licence
You will need a zoo licence issued under the Zoo Licensing Act 1981, if you wish to display wild animals to the public for at least 7 days a year, in any place that’s not a circus or pet shop.
New Zoo licences are issued for 4 years and renewals are issued for 6 years.
Licensed zoos are inspected and regulated in accordance with the Secretary of State’s standards of modern zoo practice.
