About the licence
Street trading is the selling, exposing or offering for sale any articles in a street.
A ‘street’ includes any road, footpath, beach and any part of a street or other area to which the public have access without payment which can include private land.
In Wyre you must have consent issued by the licensing department if you wish to sell goods to the public. ‘Goods’ may be hot or cold food, hot or cold non-alcoholic drinks or other articles.
If you wish to sell food, a member of the council’s Food Safety Team will arrange to inspect your vehicle/trailer and discuss food registration with you.
If your unit will be stored or garaged outside this borough, it must pass an inspection by a Food Safety Officer from the relevant licensing authority where it is kept. Proof of this inspection must be provided before we can issue consent to trade.
Whilst Wyre does not issue consents for specific pitches, there are a large number of roads, areas and car parks in the Borough where no trading may take place. These are known as prohibited streets. A full list of prohibited streets can be found in the Street trading guidance notes.
