Group two medical assessments
The Licensing Authority needs to be satisfied that all licensed drivers are medically fit. In assessing an individual's medical fitness, Wyre Council has decided to be guided by the DVLA Group 2 standards. All first-time applicants and existing licence holders must provide a completed medical form from their GP surgery.
All applicants and licensed drivers must ensure the medical is conducted by their GP or by a registered medical practitioner with access to their full medical records. Additionally, it is the responsibility of all new applicants and existing licence holders to ensure that all medical conditions (if any) are declared to the practitioner completing the form. Failure to adhere to either requirement may result in the application being delayed.
On reaching their 65 birthday, drivers must submit an annual certificate of fitness and will therefore only be eligible for a one year licence.
Licensed drivers must inform the licensing department within seven days of any change in their health, or any injury that may affect their ability to drive or to meet the Group 2 standard.
