Sustainability appraisal

Emerging Local Plan

Wyre Borough Council, as part of its emerging local plan evidence base, has commissioned a sustainability appraisal to be produced alongside the emerging local plan and suggest ways to mitigate impacts and maximise benefits.

The sustainability appraisal (SA) is a process for assessing the social, economic and environmental impacts of the emerging local plan and aims to ensure that sustainable development is at the heart of the plan-making process.

The SA process commenced in early 2024.

A sustainability appraisal of the issues and options was produced in June 2024. This has assessed the local plan vision, objectives, and the four spatial options against the sustainability appraisal framework. This version of the sustainability appraisal has been made public as part of the issues and options consultation from Monday 29 July 2024. This public consultation will run until 5pm Tuesday 10 September 2024.
