The government is changing the rules for Winter Fuel Payments from winter 2024/2025. Households will no longer be entitled to Winter Fuel Payments unless they receive Pension Credit or certain other means-tested benefits.
Who will qualify
People will quality if they were born before September 23, 1958. They must also be in receipt of a qualifying income-related benefit such as Pension Credit from the qualifying week of September 16-22, 2024. If you are eligible, you will receive the payment automatically. The money is tax-free and will not affect other benefits.
