Freedom of information
The council like other public bodies has to comply with the Freedom of Information (FOI) legislation. This means that any information that it holds, including information about a contractor may be subject to disclosure. The contractor may also be requested to disclose information to the council to comply with a request. There are however exemptions which can apply to contracts for example the council has decided that responses to tenders or to requests for quotation will be in confidence until award of contract. When a contract is issued it will contain certain conditions relating to FOI. More information on FOI can be found on the Council's website.
